What I have for you today is a blondie. A lovely bar cookie, first cousin to brownies, that is easy to make and totally delicious.
As a matter of fact, blondies are pretty much just brownies without the chocolate. Leaving out the chocolate lets the buttery, brown sugary goodness really shine through.
But these are no ordinary blondies. Nope. They have two special additions. Chocolate chips and dried cherries! Yum!
Such a perfect treat for fall weather and good with either a cup of coffee or a glass of milk. Make these this weekend and you’ll get hugs from everyone. I guarantee it.
How to Make Blondies with Chocolate Chips and Cherries
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Then whisk together the dry ingredients and set that aside.
Use a mixer to beat the butter and both sugars together until you have a nice pale, fluffy mixture. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Now reduce the mixer speed to low and add the flour mixture beating until it’s well combined.
Switch to a spatula or wooden spoon and stir in the chocolate chips and cherries.
Just look how thick that batter is! It had no problem at all holding the spatula upright.
Press the batter into a 9×13 pan, no greasing necessary, and bake it until a tester comes out with just a few crumbs clinging to it.
Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. When ready to serve, cut into squares and dust with a little powdered sugar.

I love blondies but they have to have chocolate chips in them. Then I usually throw in chopped pecans but ooooh I have to have them with dried cherries now.
Great recipe – thx for sharing it. Its good to hear your leg is on the mend!
So glad to hear that your leg is feeling better! These blondies look incredible…I love the cherry & chocolate combo! :)
I love the addition of the cherries to these. Yum!
I like to soften the cherries when I use them in baking..let set in hot water for 5 minutes, then drain..makes the flavor explode..
These sound yummy. How could you go wrong with cc and cherries? Did you use salted or unsalted butter? Thanks
Esther – I used salted butter but you can use which ever you prefer. In the south we typically use salted for everything. I can’t even remember the last time I bought unsalted butter – probably years ago.
Good to hear your leg is doing bettrr :). I love blondies and these look excellent!
Thanks, Laura, it’s getting better every day. I’m really looking forward to getting off these crutches!
pretty as pie, these ain’t no first cousins – nope, much closer kin to pure goodness… the additions of the chips are a teasing choice but the cherries I know adds such a great over-the-top additive…
so glad you will be up and able, available for all the holiday festivities – as I know it would not be the same without you in full force… have a great weekend … and go Bulldogs!
Great weekend to you, too, Drick! And go…(is it LSU?)
These look sinfully delicious. I may have to try to make these this week-end.
They are really good! And so easy, too.
