You know how sometimes you want a little treat for dessert but you just don’t have time to bake? Well, this is a perfect dessert for those times.
Let me tell you something. Just because you can cook, just because you really enjoy cooking, that doesn’t mean you want to spend your entire day standing in front of the stove. Really.
I’m a big believer in taking shortcuts with some of the great pre-made products that are available in our grocery stores. Products like the frostings from Betty Crocker.
Chocolate lovers, prepare yourselves. Betty Crocker has taken their chocolate frosting and added…are you ready for it…caramel! Oh my. It tastes incredible.
And recently they asked me to come up with an out-of-the-box way to use their delicious Hershey’s Chocolate Caramel Premium Frosting. I think I succeeded with these Chocolate Caramel Dipped Waffle Sticks :-)
How to Make Chocolate Caramel Dipped Waffle Sticks
Toast the frozen waffles as directed on the package (another great shortcut – frozen waffles). Set aside to cool.
Place one cup of the chocolate caramel frosting and the butter in a small bowl. Save the remaining frosting for another use. (Note: if you don’t know what to do with leftover frosting, ask your kids. They do.)
Microwave for 10 seconds or until butter is partially melted. Stir together until smooth.
Cut the cooled waffles into triangles or sticks.
Dip the sticks or triangles into the chocolate frosting mixture. Use a knife or spatula to smooth the frosting if desired.
Place on a wire rack until set. Or, even better, pop them into the freezer for about 5-6 minutes.
In the meantime, wash the berries and drain on paper towels.
Beat the cream until soft peaks form, add the sugar and beat briefly until mixed.
To serve, divide the cream between 4 small bowls. Top each with one cup fresh berries. Serve the dipped waffle sticks on the side.
Enjoy!
