If you’ve never tried toasted ravioli, you’re in for a treat! The original recipe, created in St. Louis, is breaded and deep fried, served with marinara on the side, and completely delicious. We’re adapting that traditional recipe for the air fryer and lightening it up a bit in the process.
What You’ll Love About This Recipe
- No messy frying! Fried ravioli are traditionally deep fried in oil and all the clean-up that goes along with that.
- They have a lovely blend of textures with a crunchy outside and a warm, soft inside.
- Serve them as a “finger food” with a marinara dipping sauce. Kids love finger foods!
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Ravioli (If using frozen ravioli, allow them to thaw first. Choose any variety that you like – chicken, mushroom, cheese, etc.)
- Breadcrumbs (The dry, seasoned breadcrumbs are nice in this recipe. Use toasted homemade ones if you want.)
- Parmesan (The inexpensive, green box Parm is fine for this.)
- Marinara Sauce (For dipping the ravioli.)
You’ll find detailed measurements for all ingredients in the printable version of the recipe at the bottom of this post.
How to Make Air Fryer Ravioli

- Preheat the air fryer to 350 F.
- In batches, arrange ravioli in a single layer in the fryer basket.; spritz with cooking spray or oil.
- Cook 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
- Turn ravioli over and spritz the second side with spray/oil. Cook an additional 3-4 minutes or until the second side is nicely browned.
- Remove the basket and immediately sprinkle with the reserved Parmesan and basil mixture.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side.
Variations
You can vary the ravioli and dipping sauce combination in some very interesting ways. Here are some ideas to try.
- Cheese ravioli with ranch dressing or pesto sauce.
- Spinach with melted butter and fresh sage.
- Mushroom with melted butter and fresh herbs.
- Chicken filled ravioli with your favorite barbecue sauce for dipping.
- Squash or pumpkin ravioli with Alfredo sauce.
Questions
I recommend thawing the ravioli before air frying to get even cooking throughout. If you want to try cooking from frozen, add a couple of minutes of time per side.
Yes, you can make this recipe in the oven. Prepare as directed in the recipe. Place the raviolis on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and cook in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Flip and continue cooking for an additional 5-6 minutes.
